YOU ARE INVITED TO THE 2015 PARKINSON’S PARK CHILDREN’S GALA – 6th September, 2pm

DSC_2196Well, it is that time of year again, and you are warmly invited to the 2015 Parkinson’s Park Children’s Gala, which will take place on Sunday 6th September,  from 2 – 4.30pm in the Park on Kelcliffe Lane.  This is the 4th Children’s Gala run by the Friends of Parkinson’s Park, and carries on the Guiseley tradition started by Crompton Parkinson’s in the 1940’s.

This year will see the return of  Guiseley Brass Band and Professor Dan the Punch and Judy/Magic man.  There will also beDSC_2208

Vintage Tea
Fairground Stalls
Plant Stall
and the chance to win on a Raffle or Tombola.

2015’s children’s dressing up competition has an historic theme – come as your favourite Historical Character – there will be prizes for the best dressed.  If adults wish to dress up as well,  feel free to indulge your inner child.

We will also be showing some of our findings from our Heritage Lottery Funded, All Our Stories project.  (There will be a walk around the Park on Sunday 13th September, 1.30pm to talk about the history of the area as part of Heritage Open Days events – booking essential on parkinsonspark@gmail.com.  There is also a Heritage Open Day walk around Guiseley’s historic village centre on Thursday 10th September, 10.30am, booking essential on 01943 876713 ).

DSC_2327We do still need some more community minded people to come and help make the day as  ‘Gala Makers’.   Roles include helping with set up, and take down, manning a stall, and serving refreshments. This year’s Gala has been funded by the Outer North West Area Committee.  The following organizations have kindly donated  raffle prizes Nuffield Health, Tod’s Treats, SJK , Station Pub, Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s,  GD Joinery, Wacky Warehouse, PH7 Hair Styling,  EGS Motors in Idle.  Programmes have been printed by Kelcliffe Cattery.
