66f7e58593d773ac2ba010114dcf1ff3Event cancelled as Hilary has unfortunately broken her hip – we wish her the very best for a speedy recovery.

We are very pleased to announce that Hilary Dodson, Chair of the Northern Fruit Group,  will be in Parkinson’s Park this Friday, 1st April, to show people how to prune the pear and apple trees we have in the Community Orchard.  The trees were planted over a year ago, and now need work to ensure they grow in the best way to produce a strong framework and fruit.

We would like to open this session to anyone who would like to come along learn about fruit tree pruning – Hilary will be demonstrating what to do,  and then participants will practice on the trees – so bring some sharp secateurs.

Meet in the Park,  down near the Greenshaw Terrace entrance, at 10am.  As the area can be muddy, wellingtons or stout shoes are also advisable. The orchard is in the south west corner of Parkinson’s Park, so you can park on  the Netherfield Road car park, and walk up Greenshaw Terrace, alternatively, you can park at the top of Oxford Avenue and use that entrance.   Contact Joanna Brooks on parkinsonspark@gmail.com if you have any questions.
