Lantern Parade Today

lantern-parade-route-mapLantern parade today at 3.45pm for 4pm start. Lots of hard work been going on getting everything ready, so a big thank you to all the team.

This year we have some specially designed Guiseley Lanterns from the talented Lucy Phillips, and the Sound of the Mill Band with Jacob Phillips and Ben Lawrence. Hopefully, we have more larger lanterns carried following all the fun of the workshop.  You can see the Guiseley Lanterns here, they are amazing.

At the Cross, Guiseley Brass Band will play carols for us to sing along too – collect your carol sheet as you leave the Park. There will also be refreshments, buns from Claremont Cakes and Hot Chocolate from Galaxy,  organized by Chris who never gets to be in the Parade 😦. We’ll hand those around during the carols.

On the safety side do have wellies or stout shoes, we’ve put some woodchippings down but the Park does get muddy. Please keep to the pavements as much as possible we’ve got a team of marshalls in hi-vis jackets to help out and we have asked people to move parked cars if they can for everyone’s safety – the route is attached. Children need to have adults with them.  Cars can be parked on Netherfield Road Car Park, walk up to the Park along Greenshaw Terrace.

We’d also like to thank the sponsors Comic Relief and Galaxy Hot Chocolate Community Funds, our local councillors, local churches and all the private individuals who have made donations of money, items and time.

So come add your decoration to the Advent Tree, make a wish for Yule, light your way with a lantern from our medieval fields to the cross and have a good time.
