It has been a busy few weeks for community events.

Advent Tree Dressing

The Little Friends led by Becky Prosser and Karen Smith did a great job on Saturday 1st December kick starting the Advent Tree decorating.

The weather was absolutely awful and even the elves took flight,  but the children took in their stride and have loaded the branches with baubles.

The trees are now ready for you to add your own advent decorations.

Guiseley Christmas Lights

The street market at the Guiseley Lights switch-on was another rainy wet day, however the crowds still rolled out and we’d like to thank everyone who visited our stall.  We raised around £70 which goes towards the Lantern Parade and Children’s Gala.

Homes for Heroes Coffee Morning

It was good to see all the Friends who turned up for our fundraiser coffee morning and thanks must go to SusanWright of Whitaker Firth who did a lot of the organizing and lent her office in Guiseley.

The Home for Heroes Exhibition was a favourite talking point, and subsequently went on a tour, first to St Oswalds and then to Aireborough Camera Club.  Guiseley Art Club showed a wide range of lovely paintings and cards – the paintings are still up in the Whitaker Firth office for view.   Overall we raised around £80 for the Lantern Parade and Children’s Gala.

Open Country

Open Country is a charity who help people with disabilities access the countryside.  They have been doing work in the Park for a number of years now, and helped construct the bog garden.   We are told they absolutely love visiting and helping in the Park and their work really does make a difference.   Here are some pictures from their latest visit.

Next stop,  The Lantern Parade on 16th December – see you there.
