As the darkness and cold gathers for December, we want to light up the Park with sparkle and fun to anticipate and celebrate the Christmas Season.

Park Displays

We’ll again be lighting up different areas of the Park which will be done by different groups of Friends to different Christmas themes. Starting with the Advent Tree and Crooklands Orchard to welcome the season, there will then be a big burst of light at 3pm on 12th December to start the Lantern Parade and launch the Christmas Tree Trail.

The Farm Gate display will also be part of the ‘Yarns Well Spun’ Leeds 2023 art project, the Crooklands Orchard display will be part of a traditional wassail.

Coundown To ChristmasYour Park Decorations – 1st – 25th December

You can share your own decorations with others in the Countdown to Christmas on the Advent Tree from 1st December, building up each week to Christmas Day. In addition, the Kelcliffe Lane entrance with the small gate will again be decorated with stars and snowflakes for loved ones or pets that have died: email Joanna Cornfield on with the name you’d like on the snowflake before 6th December.

Lantern Parade – 12th December

The Lantern Parade will start promptly at 3.45pm with lanterns (bring your own) and drums, wending its way downhill to the Town Cross for around 4.10pm. There will then be traditional Carols around the Guiseley Christmas Tree accompanied by Guiseley Brass Band. Festive dress from Santa hats to full costume is encouraged. Your invitation to the Parade is here

Refreshments this year will be in the Park, rather than at the Town Cross, as we will be launching the Christmas Tree Trail between 3 – 3-45pm . There will be entertainment from 3pm by Mitch Oldham.

Christmas Tree Trail – 12th December – 3rd January 2022

Over the Christmas Season there will again be a Christmas Tree Trail to visit the decorated areas of the Park and find letters that make up a Christmassy Phrase. The letters will all be in the decorated areas and should be put down on a trail map to be handed in by 4th January for a chance to win a prize.

The trail bag of map plus goodies will be on sale for £5 on 28th November at the Guiseley Christmas Market and Light Switch On, and on 12th December between 3 – 3.45pm

The Small Print

Please remember that the Park gets muddy and slippery during wet weather – so appropriate footwear is important.

Children must be accompanied by adults on the Lantern Parade

If the weather is bad the events on the 12th will be cancelled, and alternative arrangements made to obtain the Christmas Trail bags.

Please follow the well publicised relevant Government Guidelines regarding health.
