The bottom of the Park is fairly wet, and there is a lot of willow growing there. A few years ago FOPP decided to make use of this and create a Willow Walk. Money was raised from the Co-Op Community Fund throughout 2021/22 and yesterday (16 March 2023) the first part of the Walk was put in place – a willow tunnel to form the entrance.

The project is being organized by Nicola Denson from FOPP who asked Mark from ‘Out of the Woods‘, a willow weaving business in Leeds, to come along to direct the building of the tunnel. A team of Friends helped erect the willow; thanks go to them. Also to Bould Trees who supplied the woodchippings for the path.

The Walk will be developed further as funds for the work are raised.

Willow Crafts 28 March 2023 – Parkinson’s Park

Mark will also be running a willow craft workshop on 28 March in the Park, to make a Birdfeeder, the money again has come from the Co-Op Community fund.
