2018 Parkinson’s Park Events

14 February PM – For National Nest Box Week we will be putting up some robin nest boxes and some bug hotels.  This is a Little Friends Event for parents/carers and children.

24 February AMFriends Park Working Party, to do a variety of tidying and maintenance jobs such as varnish the benches, clear around the copse hedges, and tend the herb garden .

27 February AM – Planting of more Fruit Trees in the Orchard.  Led by Open Country but all welcome to help.  If you’d like to help tend the Orchard in 2018, please contact Martyn Hornsby-Smith at martyn.h-smith@tiscali.co.uk

2 – 4 March Great British Spring Clean Week. Organized by Keep Britain Tidy, we’d encourage people to get involved in the Park.  More details of an organized Heros event for Little Friends later.

31 MarchEaster Tree Dressing in the Park

17 May Start Birding event in the Park with Linda Jenkinson.  This will be a bookable event with a payable ticket.

MayFriend’s of Parkinson’s Park Annual General Meeting with speaker.

23 June – 1 JulyTales Told Festival events run by Codswallop in the Park.

SummerBog Garden Survival Team.  Organized to keep the bog garden watered during dry spells.  This will be necessary until it is properly established.  If you’d like to be part of the team, contact Chris Parapia on chrisparapia@hotmail.com

20 July – 12 AugustBig Butterfly Count.  Get a sheet from the Butterfly Conservation website and enter your count of butterflies in the Park.  The aim of Meadfleet and the Friends  is to keep improving the wildflower areas in the Park to build up the habitat for bees, butterflies and other insects.

2 SeptemberFriends of Parkinson’s Park Annual Children’s Gala.  Fancy dress theme to be announced later. 

October – Bulb Planting

14 OctoberApple Day, 2-4pm

20 OctoberCodswallop ‘A Day in the Woods’ – Pirates and Mermaids, 1-3pm

17 November – Coffee Morning Fundraiser, Whittaker Firth Office 10-12noon

1-24 DecemberLittle Friends Advent Tree Dressing in the Park, 2-3pm on 1st Dec

14 DecemberLantern Parade Percussion Workshop, 6.45 – 7.30pm Baptist Church

16 DecemberFriends of Parkinson’s Park Lantern Parade, 3.45 – 5.15pm meet in the Park with the lantern and parade to Guiseley Cross for Carol Singing at 4.20pm
