SLEDGING IN THE PARK IN THE 1980’S

IMG_0809Parkinson’s Park has always been ideal for sledging – ranging from the easy to the difficult slopes.

Christine King has sent us an interesting historical photo of sledging in the Park in the 1980’s, when the lower slope was less overgrown.   This picture is taken by the side of the bottom copse, and you can see the gardens of Crompton Parkinson laid out,  with Greenshaw Terrace behind.

Another sledging post here, but this time on the steep slope at the other end of the Park.

PARKINSON’S PARK ADVENT TREE DRESSING TODAY – POSTPONED

P1060248Given the weather overnight, which is continuing this morning, we’ve decided to postpone the Advent Tree Dressing today until later in the week. We’ll put the lights up on the first available ‘dry’ day, and the dressing we already have – please add your own decorations as and when you want over the advent period. The idea is for the decoration to build up.

We are still looking for drummers for the Lantern Parade. Those that did it last year said it was great fun, and have signed up for this year, but we do need some more people, please email me if you are interested. The drum will be provided, plus tuition on 18th December at 7pm. email jakirkby@btconnect.com
