PARKINSON’S PARK FEATURES ON ITV CALENDAR PARK LIFE

Back in August 2020 we received an email from the Leeds Parks Forum; ITV Calendar were looking to “tell the story of quirky, interesting, pictorially stunning areas which are spaces valued by the locals and those who visit“. We knew we met that criteria and sent in some information to producer Mark Witty.

The Friends of Parkinson’s Park wish you are Happy New Year and hope everyone had a very good Christmas Break. The new year brings lots of opportunities for developing the Park further – the Orchard, wild flower area. a new Greenshaw Wood and the bog garden. Also for holding events for national celebrations such as the 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day on 8th May – when street parties will be held. We also have our annual Children’s Gala, Apple Day and Lantern Parade to organise.
To plan activity and events for 2020, we will be holding a Friends meeting at 7.30pm on 22nd January 2020, at The Ings Public House – everyone who has an idea for the Park and who wants to help with the Park’s development and events this year is welcome.

Work on trees safety has already been done by Meadfleet, and we are planning on putting more woodchip paths down just as soon as we’ve sourced supplies and funds. The Farmgate is in need of repair, along with the latches on two other gates, and that is in hand. We will also be installing a new gate near the top bench to replace the one that got vandalised Continue reading

VACANCY FOR A TREASURER

Another Year Gone, A New One To Begin
2017 was the 6th year of Friends of Parkinson’s Park. We formed in 2011 when the fields developed by Crompton Parkinson to replace the old Kelcliffe Recreation Ground had grown into such a wilderness that people would not take their children because of the mess.
Our aim was to make the Park useable again; a landscape for local residents to build new memories to treasure.
A lot has been achieved through the ups and downs of the past 6 years with the input of many people. 2018 will hopefully see things develop further with the help of many more.
Happy New Year from
Chris, Jenny, Andy, Nicola, Barbara, Martyn, Josie, Colin and Fran
