LETS CELEBRATE THE GOOD TIMES – 1952 – 2022

The run up to Jubilee has started in the Park, and elsewhere. Yesterday, 21st May, Guiseley Lights installed the Jubilee display at the cross in Towngate, and the Natter Bench in the Park was yarnbombed by the clever Ladies of the ‘Yarns Well Spun‘ project run by Daisy Croft Crafts.

Lots more Park Jubilee decorations to come over the next fortnight with many Park Friends putting on their collaborative ‘creative’ hats to bring you their interpretation of cultural events over the seven decades from 1952 to 2022.

All the decorating will culminate in:

2nd June – St Oswald’s Church, Music for a Royal Occasion’ with the Choir, 12.15 pm .

3rd June – The Parkinson’s Park Big Jubilee Picnic 12.30 for 1pm .

4th June – Guiseley Methodists will be holding a Jubilee Tea 2-4pm .

5th June Guiseley Lights Jubilee Street Party Towngate 1 – 5 pm

So, get on your favourite ‘decade’ outfit, from 50s Teddy Boy drapes, to 90s Spice Girl specials and let’s have some fun.

We are very pleased to announce that Bradford Writer Irene Lofthouse, will be our Storyteller at the dedication of the Jubilee Tree at The Big Jubilee Picnic on 3rd June 2022. Irene is creating an original story to tell about the Jubilee Tree and the Park when the tree is ‘unveiled’ by long time Guiseley resident Alec Denton, who has known the Park all his life.

Time to create some happiness. Jubilee is approaching and it was good to see the Queen looking happy this week at the start of the Platinum Jubilee events.

As is now the custom, the Park’s Celebration Tree will be decorated, this time in red, white and blue decorations for anyone and everyone to add to as they pass.

We’ll start the tree in the run up to the Jubilee weekend on 28th May, but now’s the time to get knitting, sewing, or the children drawing crowns, corgis, flags, or whatever is appropriate.

The Celebration Tree Decorated For Easter

People comment about how they love to see the decorations during the year, so let’s build the smiles, lift the mood, and pay tribute to the Queen and all her years of dedication and hard work .
