Professional Photography of Parkinson’s Park

Darren Sanderson is a local landscape photographer who is part of a project capturing the local landscape characteristics and distinctiveness of Aireborough (Guiseley,  High Royds, Hawksworth, Yeadon and Rawdon).   He has sent us two lovely pictures of the Park, taken this week.

You will find more of Darren’s pictures in his gallery here,  and more on the local distinctiveness project here.

Bottom Path is Back After A Decade Of Neglect

It seems like forever, that local people have been trying to get the old track along the bottom of the Park restored.  But now, at long last, thanks to Meadfleet,  we at last have a mown path that we can start to regenerate and reconstruct so that it can be used to get from one side of Guiseley to the centre, avoiding busy roads.   The intention is to keep the grass mown as a minimum.

Picture from 1930's clearly shows the path along the bottom of the Park.

Wanted – Gala Makers, For An Historic Day

ChildrensGala151Planning for this year’s Children’s Gala on 6th September 2015 is well underway. We have most of the headline acts, including Guiseley Brass Band and Professor Dan the Punch and Judy/Magic man, confirmed. We will also have Traditional Games, a Raffle and Tombola and Plant stall.

The theme for this year for those who want to dress up, and for the Children’s ‘best dressed’ competition,  is the history of Guiseley, to link into our All Our Stories project.

To make sure the day does indeed go down in history we need more community minded people to come and help make the day – ‘Gala Makers’.   Roles include helping with set up, and take down, manning a stall, serving refreshments or any creative ideas you can think of that would be turn a good day, into a great day.

If you are willing to help out please email The Gala Organising Committee.    at parkinsonspark@gmail.com, stating what you are willing to help with and your contact details. Thank you,
